A U.S. college education costs 297% more now than it did in 1979. Meanwhile, a Happy Meal costs 40% less. The first is subsidized; the second isn't. (source: http://j.mp/2JB795Z )

One of the worst things for public education in the history of America was when the Federal Government decided it was a good idea to guarantee every student loan they gave out. Education quality got worse and tuition went up.
