Every year, interns from @Heritage and @CatoInstitute are selected to debate the merits of libertarianism vs. conservatism. #LvCDebate is always a fun, light-hearted event (okay, *some* people take it a little too seriously)-RSVP to attend August 8th:

In the 1950s, 1 in 20 workers needed government permission to work. Today licensing has ballooned to 1 in 4 workers - not just doctors, dentists, & lawyers, but also shampooers, makeup artists, travel agents, auctioneers, & home entertainment installers. http://j.mp/2ArImia

If the media truly reported the important changes in the world, they could have run the headline NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN EXTREME POVERTY FELL BY 137,000 SINCE YESTERDAY every single day for the last 25 years. http://j.mp/2HmcprY

No, capitalism is not "a coercive economic system that creates persistent patterns of economic deprivation." It's a system of voluntary exchange that has led to the greatest reduction in poverty the world has ever seen. http://j.mp/2qD9aFT

No matter where it was tried, communism has always resulted in mountains of dead bodies. As for socialist economics, it has always resulted in shortages, inefficiency, poverty, and desperation. http://j.mp/2ojqgro
