Passed in 1920, the Jones Act was meant to ensure a strong U.S. merchant marine. But the law has failed to prevent the industry’s steady downward spiral, all while imposing significant economic costs. #EndTheJonesAct http://j.mp/2tLuATU #CatoTrade

Stupid laws take a long time to repeal/reform. The Jones Act is one of the most destructive and it is still in place after 98 years. It didn't take that long to dump Ford's Edsel and Coca-Cola's New Coke. This is why government should do less. It cannot self-correct in time.

Our government’s “sugar program” increases the cost of sugar for all Americans. It also is driving candy manufacturers overseas where the key ingredient-sugar-costs less. And some idiots want to raise taxes to do more stupid stuff like this.
