Comprehensive thread on productive @CatoInstitute panel on plea bargaining just finished. Upshot: Coercion is destructive, but not inevitable. Change starts with: decriminalization, ending wealth based detention, limits on charging, mandatory mins, open discovery, & speedy trial.
